Chrétien is genuinely the reason Canada's and especially Quebec's healthcare situation is so so so bad. Austerity is evil. Social murder from neglect is still murder.
Hospital beds per 1,000 inhabitants in Canada collapsed during the 90s with the Chrétien austerity measures that cut transfer payments for healthcare. It never recovered.

I'm reminded of this as the Carney cuts to public transit go through.

Periodic reminder that what's marketed as 'youth social media bans' actually amounts to requiring people to provide personally identifying information in order to access whatever content a given government disfavours.
The Australian social media age limit law has taken effect. At the time I made this post, I had not yet been age gated. Because the age gating will potentially invade my privacy to an unacceptable extent and may happen at any time, I may go quiet suddenly. If I do, this is why:
Tomorrow, 10 December 2025, the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth) s 63E(2) will take effect. It will require social media platforms to take measures to ensure that they do not host accounts belonging to Australians under 16 years old. It will require them to do so by collecting Australian users' ID.

I have consulted a medical professional via work-provided telehealth and it has been recommend to me that I should get a physical examination.
I've been feeling contonious motion sickness-like nausea since yesterday afternoon and not only is it ruining my holiday a little bit and stopping me from going to activities I said I'd attend, it's really not making me feel good about going back to work on Monday and into the office regularly.

The government should be stepping in. We used to have rules that small communities must be offered services for access to bigger markets. You can't bank in Ottawa if you're not in Flesherton kinda rules. But then again I think banks should be nationalized and run as a public service.
Canadian banks closed 561 branches & 900 ATMs in 4 years, while population grew 7%.

Those same banks made $70 billion profit last year alone.

We need postal banking & credit unions freed to provide all banking services.

Public options for banking now!

We’re Sakher and Reem. We lost everything in the war.
Now we live in tents, with no jobs, no income — just pain and survival.
Reem needs surgery. My father needs medicine.
This is our only donation link. It helps us and our families.
Please donate or reshare. We need you. 🤍
