The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions.

It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.

Petition calling on England and Scotland to boycott the World Cup, or for all matches to be moved to Mexico and Canada.
Boycott Trump's World Cup: Sign the petition to move the games now!
Trump’s threats mean the USA shouldn't host. Let's ask the FA to move the games to Canada & Mexico.

This moment in history provides us with incontrovertible evidence that all the conservatives who claim to be extremely devoted to freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, and opposed to the encroachment of tyranny, are completely and totally full of shit.

It's all white supremacy and greed.

I truly think it’s time
If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.

They know what they say is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

The media know that what they repeat is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

Their supporters know what they are told is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

Telling the truth is not enough, unless people care about the truth.

Can we just stop pretending this guy has anything worthwhile to say
Little news out of this beyond Musk playing the hits with his company talking points. He predicted the “lowest cost place” to put AI data centers will be space and that will happen within three years, while AI will be “smarter than all of humanity collectively” within five years.

As a coder this is the least surprising thing I have read about AI
“One notable MIT study found that 95 percent of companies that integrated AI saw zero meaningful growth in revenue. For coding tasks, one of AI’s most widely hyped applications, another study showed that programmers who used AI coding tools actually became slower at their jobs.”
AI Completely Failing to Boost Productivity, Says Top Analyst
AI may or may not excel at a lot of things, but from an economic standpoint, it's definitely not making us more productive.

Fucking lol
More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”

I don’t think people realise how awful it is in Ukraine right now. Yesterday my friend posted how it’s -9 and because of the power cuts - due to Russian attacks - she has no heating. This is in Kyiv. And this is the day after a mass missile & drone strike killed four people.

NY resolutions are in:
• more instrument practice (inc learn some new pieces)
• stretch more (esp triceps and hammies)
• less phone scrolling at the gym (I make this one all the time)
• read more (than the 6 or so books I read last year)
• actually get a decent cut in before summer for once

Maybe this is technically interacting, but I once shared a smoking shelter with Simon Amstell at a Fringe venue. He did not look like he wanted to be spoken to, so we smoked in silence and then he left.
Please quote this with the time you didn’t interact with someone famous - eg one time I was in Cardiff the same weekend as Willem Dafoe (but I didn’t see him or even know he was there until he appeared on the telly later)
Please quote this with your major interactions with massive celebrities. eg “I was married to the pope for fifteen years”

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.
