Lord Falconer on Today saying that the backlog justifies the virtual abolition of jury trial is like saying if there is a fire in your house you should blow it up rather than extinguish the fire. The backlog is temporary, jury trial should be forever.

Reform is a party that says things that appeal to racists, fields racist candidates, fawns over racist world leaders, made a convicted racist guest of honour at their conference, and whose leader refuses to outright deny having racially abused people.

If only there were a word for such a party.

Imagine coming up with a proposal so stupid, so unworkable, so thoughtless, that it makes Robert Jenrick look sane by comparison.

Jury trials could be scrapped except in most serious cases
Only cases of alleged murder, rape or manslaughter will be decided by a jury under new proposals to cut court backlogs.

Brexit was such a lie.

It’s actually made the U.K. poorer, more isolated, insular and less secure

And remember who led the drive that has made us more insecure - Farage alongside Johnson & Co.

The U.K. needs to accept its error and seek a closer union with Europe.

The question people aren’t asking Farage: so, if you weren’t a racist when you were at school… when did that change?

It makes a change to see Farage being scrutinised. He insulted and belittled others on the basis of their race.
If that's not a textbook definition of racism, what is?

Farage really on the ropes there.
Did you ever racially abuse fellow pupils?

It was years ago.

Did you ever racially abuse fellow pupils?

Not in a hurtful way.

Did you ever racially abuse fellow pupils?

Not with intent.

Did you ever racially abuse fellow pupils?

Not genuine abuse.

There's a very very very simple reason why nothing Labour do ever moves the needle on the parlous state of the UK economy.

They have deliberately and repeatedly chosen to ignore the elephant filling every nook and cranny of the room.

A former UK prime minister held responsible for tens of thousands of deaths while the US president calls for elected politicians to be hanged.

A jolt of a reminder that law and policy are ultimately about life and death.

And politicians are often not up to dealing with such things.
