Images cells live. Sometimes makes them dead and images that too. All things 4D imaging, malaria, microscopy, analysis etc. etc. 🔬🧬🦠

Hello fellow social media app migrators 🖐️ Niall from Melbourne here. Current focus is on imaging things that move and trying to leverage the information density of live-cell imaging data. At the moment trying to understand how malaria invades red blood cells like this cookie monster here. 🧪🔬🦠

15 years in the making, we confirmed that mitochondria - the powerhouse of the cell - have an unusual localization in patients who experience psychosis (including schizophrenia and bipolar disorders). You’ll never guess what kind of patient cells we used to make this discovery… 🧵

Love this
Video: a Japanese scientist was attacked by flies while giving the acceptance speech for his Ig Nobel Prize-winning research paper that proved painting Zebra-like stripes on cows led to a decrease in biting fly attacks.

Think I've found a winner for "least helpful microscopy method" ever written. This isn't a method, it's barely a sentence.

#FluorescenceFriday - Today we have got a 10X expanded Toxoplasma Gondii with labelled microtubules. The unexpanded length of the parasite is equivalent to the width of the bright conoid up top. 2 daughter parasites are formed through endodogeny. A pregnant parasite dangerous to pregnant humans.

Naarm Melb folks - if it's too hot to stay home check with your local Council. I see on Facebook Moonee Valley are opening a couple of libraries which are usually closed on Sundays as cool spaces. Other Councils will be too. 🥵
