did you ever have an mp3 with corrupted bytes that made winamp or whatever make that little hiccup sound and you got so used to hearing it that now when you listen to a proper version of that song you still expect to hear that noise at the same spot?

Bought OTD in 1972: another proper 1967 psych album. Doesn’t have a first class rep but so what - it’s charming, tuneful, inventive and light. Look At Me I’m You is mundanity transformed by musique concrete, Frozen Dog rocks, People of the Royal Parks a protest against a more regimented time. Dig it

Bought OTD in 1972: good time to pick up psych albums cheap. This has really held up: great tunes, ringing clear production, cool psych effects and emotional heft in the songs and storyline. Listen to S.F.Sorrow, She Says Good Morning, I See you, and the concluding heartache, Loneliest Person

It’s very hard to sell the idea to many cis men that real confidence comes from looking directly into your self-doubt, not trying to mask it with muscles or performative toughness. Own your weaknesses, know who you are and be willing to be wrong about everything else. But like, be funny about it.
This is correct. Non-Horrible-CIS-Men, collectively, will need to get over the very self-doubts that make us good long enough to redirect frightened unreflective men who only listen to confidence which makes this a challenge.
I also think a key conclusion from all this absolutely needs to be “cis men who aren’t horrible need to be taking point on addressing this societal problem, for both practical and ethical reasons”

Moving out soon and reminiscing on high school and early college years when I was really into Glassjaw. First album has embarrassing lyrics obv. but these days I crack myself up by singing along to them with an exaggerated Long Island bro accent, i.e. “Even the FAWTHA, you fuckin’ HOO-WAH”.

A fast casual Indian joint in Denver called Bombay Bowl that closed around 2014 had an amazing korma recipe that I’d take a knee to the stomach just to have one more bite of.

Now that Game Informer is back, the piece that I wrote for the magazine is online. This essay isn’t my best work, but it was my first and most personal. I’ll forever be grateful to the editors. It led to a lot of good things, even if it’s tough to look back on. www.gameinformer.com/2023/09/04/s...

Been falling asleep to Pat Metheny Group albums lately (Letter from Home is playing right now). No I hardly connect with peers my age. But even my boomer music nerd friend refuses to have any of Pat either lol. Only strange dudes who stock shelves overnight at Ralphs understand me.

This performance of My Iron Lung from 1994 recorded at the Astoria in London was so good that it ended up on The Bends and most people never even knew it was a live track because they removed the audience audio.
