Really great to see Newham Council’s progress on updating the excessively wide road layout outside the new City Hall—should really have been done before the GLA moved here, or latest before Silvertown Tunnel opened, but better late than never. We will look forward to showcasing this when finished 👀
With the number of cycle trips in London soaring, we need to do even more to keep our roads safe for everyone.

Great to see the new bike lanes being built near Royal Docks and London's Excel Centre this morning.

Sad to see RideLondon on "pause". We loved seeing FreeCycle families joyously riding through London.
BUT... Good news!

A few exciting bits of infrastructure news 👀
Ground broken for SuDS (pic 1) at Junction 3 of the Romford Rd scheme.

Still a little bit to be completed where the road will get opened to motorists.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Vigil for Irene Leardini this evening. Good to see members of the press, Lewisham Council and our local MP attend.

We'll be writing to TfL to try to engage in some sort of dialogue about the A2. Hopefully we won't have to do this again.

Better places simply cannot be delivered without LTNs. The are key to network planning and their use unlocks so much.

Apart from some notable exceptions, much of the UK simply has not critically reviewed its network function which means we are tinkering with a broken system.

Great news for the #WestHamParkLTN which will now be made permanent after being sent back by the scrutiny committee. The positive effects for everyone have been obvious and we appreciate the efforts made by Councillors and officers throughout the consultation process.
Great news - despite being sent for scrutiny, the West Ham Park low traffic scheme will now be made permanent. Some powerful words from Mayor Fiaz in her introduction 💥

Irene was one of two people killed on London's roads while cycling in January 2026. Not a good start to the year. This Friday, 6 Feb, our local group @lewishamcyclists.bsky.social will hold a short vigil to mark her passing on what is a horrible stretch of roads that need improvement, urgently...

Nice thread here on the situation with the #WestHamParkLTN, which in another survey had satisfied 59% of residents and has had positive outcomes for congestion, safety, and air quality—but is still being sent back for reconsideration.

We naturally hope the decision makers won’t change their mind.
The committee has now sent the officers' decision to make the scheme permanent back to the council after members raised concerns that there wasn't a 'clear majority' in favour of keeping it.

In a council survey, 51% supported the LTN while 47% did not. mgov.newham.gov.uk/documents/s1...

Permanent🚦have been put up at the former roundabout on Leyton Rd.

We’re disappointed by repeated political opportunism around the West Ham Park #LTN, which has made clear improvements for road safety, air quality, and reducing congestion on our streets.

If your car journey is longer, you can leave a few minutes earlier—a small price to pay for everyone’s safety.

There have already been 2 cycling fatalities in London this year, both on TfL controlled roads. It's too early to know the circumstances in either of these two events, but more needs to be done to ensure the most dangerous roads in London are made safe for cycling.
