The Court of Appeal's judgement stopping Tower Hamlets from ripping out safety infrastructure is good news for Londoners.

It's good for road safety & reducing danger. It's good for air quality, good for health, and good for communities across the capital.

This is significant news for schemes delivered across London in the last nine years. It means politicians can't simply 'rip out' LTNs and bike lanes they don't like. Some of those running in May's elections are going to have to rethink their pledges

Court of Appeal just ruled Tower Hamlets DECISION to remove the Bethnal Green LTN is UNLAWFUL.

Councils can't remove without going through proper process & getting Mayor of London's approval.

This is a MASSIVE precedent for London. Years of work vindicated.

Such an important thread. We often hear claims that residents weren’t consulted on schemes to make our streets safer.
There are some who say we don’t consult on our newest Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.

If that’s the case, it’s worth taking a look at the West Ham LTN engagement report.

I'm pleased that Newham London is also advocating for step free access for Plaistow Station.

It is VERY slippery out on the roads & pavements today. We’ve already heard about a couple of pedestrian falls & collisions between cars. Council don’t seem to have done any gritting. Please be careful out there!

Oh man, not again. I have seen people BBQ on the flats despite the rules. Which is irresponsible, but this keeps happening. I wonder if a dedicated safe BBQ area, like the Olympic Park has, could help prevent these wildfires in future.

In case you were still in any doubt of the benefit of low traffic neighbourhoods…
NEW: Big study of low-traffic neighbourhoods in London suggest they cut road injuries and deaths by more than a third within their boundaries with no apparent negative safety effect on nearby roads. This feels a *major* boost for proponents of such schemes.
