And this is what these majors have signed up to:

“The startup will combine traditional streaming features from services such as Spotify (SPOT.N), opens new tab with AI tools that allow users to remake songs in different styles, according to Bloomberg”

Just why.
Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment have signed licensing deals with AI music technology company Klay Vision Inc., making it the first AI music startup to secure licensing deals with all three major record companies

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

PLEASE this.

And also to scientists writing press releases, too - calling something "AI" when it was actually your student spending 12 months fitting and validating a model is disingenuous
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

Well, this is pretty terrifying. The Daily Mail is buying the Telegraph.

One massive consolidated right-wing media empire controlled by off-shore interests at a critical moment in global politics.

What could go wrong?

A lot of you will head for the obvious ones. If you want to hear Mani at his best, I recommend "Daybreak", "Begging You", "Xtmnr", "Shoot Speed/Kill Light". If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Good to hear yesterday from @sundersays.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social on the immense risk of X as it ignores legal obligations and its owner tries to influence UK politics.
