Michael Tracey, who calls himself a journalist, has been smearing Jeffrey Epstein survivors — and sometimes me. I can take it. But I asked him one simple question: are you being paid by someone powerful to attack sex-crime victims? Yes or no. His audio mysteriously died. Weird.

Feel like the people getting corrupt money off this probably scored big off Covid loan corruption too.
$413,000 per bed. Insanity.

that is, congress keeps passing budget increases for the department of education, in bills that specify they're not allowed to change their operations. the admin keeps trying anyway. right now they're randomly reassigning employees to other agencies where they don't even have wifi access. 2.
Congress fully funded Education Dept, but it’s moving ahead with reassigning employees to other agencies | Federal News Network
The spending bill that funds the Education Department bars covered agencies from using funds in any way that “relocates an office or employees."

i read this and was a little confused to remember the department of education still exists. you might recall that there was an executive order directing the DOE to dismantle itself. it turns out they're still trying to do that, but there's a weird situation where congress won't let them. 1.

Andrew Garfield was going to play the monster in FRANKENSTEIN, but pulled out and Jacob Elordi stepped in.

Elordi’s followup movie is WUTHERING HEIGHTS.

So he went from doing Garfield’s role… to playing Heathcliff…

And here comes the mandatory caveat: It's not a high salary, it's very competitive, it needs more funding and it's by no means a perfect system. But it's the reason why I've been able to write full time the past 10 years or so.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

this is why the whole “oh, suffering creates great art” thing is bullshit

you know what’s conducive to art? a roof over your head and food on the table

you know what isn’t? stressing out over where the fuck the rent money is going to come from

Everyone making enough money they wouldnt notice 50-100$ per month or so less should become a patron of the arts — commission a piece! Support an artist! Buy an art student’s project!

This is the kind of thing white supremacists have been doing to Emmett Till’s memorial for decades.

It’s wild to see them do this to a white woman who the entire world saw extrajudicially murdered.
Someone doused Renee Good’s Minneapolis memorial and a nearby pile of wood with gasoline and started a fire at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Monstrously evil. Abolish ICE. Melt down its weapons and sell off all of its assets. Release everyone from its concentration camps and grant citizenship (if they want it) to everyone whose rights it has violated.
“I don’t want to be in this place I want to go to my school.”

- 7 year old imprisoned by ICE for 70 days in a concentration camp in Texas.

Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

Oh man imagine starting Cape Fear and then having to watch Problem Child in the middle of it, this idea may be too powerful
Y’know when the characters in a movie go to see a movie and it feels really meta? Well, with an “Ultimate Double Feature,” we play the first movie up until the point when they enter a cinema to watch a different film… then we play that film… then we go back to the first film to finish that story.
