Let’s tell it like it is.
It’s not “ICE is conducting mass deportations”, it’s “the Trump Regime is engaging in a campaign of ethnic cleansing using a secretive police force which has no accountability”.
Anyone who thinks they’ll stop with those who aren’t here legally is fooling themselves.

I cannot agree more - either everyone has rights, or you’ve got one group whose rights are above the discretion of the powerful, and every other group has none.
Human rights are universal - if we start stripping away basic human rights from any section of society then none of us has rights – just privileges that can be taken away by people in power whenever they want

Another thing going on in that book is an indictment of people who will overlook heinous behavior if it is coming from someone who presents with a respectable, sophisticated gloss. That theme gets presented in the first few lines of the book. I was reminded of that reading that email.
