It was just block after block of people coming from Malcolm X Park headed downtown. Lots of energy despite the heat, and cheers from passersby, as well as church bells ringing in support.

forgive me if this is stating the obvious but the reason they quote Rufo so much is bc they agree with him
here are the results:

since january 1, 2021, rufo has appeared in the WSJ 32 times.

in the same period, he appeared in NYT 167 times.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

NEW from me: A deep dive into OMB Director Russell Vought — specifically, how his plan to reshape the government is rooted in a specific ideology: Christian nationalism.

Also, his favorite religious quote from an early president may be, uh…not true. religionnews.com/2025/06/23/r...
OMB's Russell Vought, the Christian 'nation-ist' driving Project 2025 and DOGE
WASHINGTON (RNS) — The director of the US budget has declared that Christians should be 'stewards of a blessing that has been God-given: to live in this land, this particular land.'

They’re going to try to make you feel insane for opposing this war. They’ll ignore protests and downplay any opposition. They’ll try to strongarm you into submission.

They did it with Iraq and they’ll do it again.

And then a few years later they’ll pretend they were with you all along.

yes. they literally blame higher education for a social order that doesn’t give unquestioned deference to people like themselves
I do not think people are actually seriously calibrated for how rabidly anti-university the MAGA right is and how core that is to their policy goals. It is probably the #2 issue after immigration for them, and for some of them it’s higher.

Users reported filing took them about an hour, and some only 30min.

about 90% of culture war grievances is literally just people with nothing happening in their lives getting mad that other people are not as unhappy as they are
the pronoun thing is so incredibly stupid at so many levels, imagine knowing that you live a life so devoid of anything interesting that you have time to sit around steaming at what someone else put in their bio, like why would you ever confess this in public

If you are actively culling your library to keep books like "The Bell Curve" while removing criticisms of the book, you are building a white supremacist library.
Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not.

An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

i may be unserious, hysterical and woke, but my strategy of “taking trump seriously no matter how insane he sounds” has paid more analytical dividends than the alternatives
Think part of the problem with describing Trump seriously is that no one actually seems to actually ever take his entire ideological outlook seriously, so absurdist means tend be be more effective at evoking political affect

You can probably trace this back to the Nixon pardon, the post-2008 "Too big to jail" decline in white collar prosecutions, and of course more recently the half hearted Trump prosecution. These are fundamentally political, not legal problems
One of the defining feelings in American life, for decades now, is elites doing plainly criminal shit and nothing at all happening as a result. It is deranging in a way that virtually nothing else is. Media fixates on perceived street lawlessness but shit like this matters much more in my opinion.

I don't want an AI that renders images that vaguely resemble Ghibli films. I want an AI - or just a regular I - that informs everyone the man's name was Yoshifumi Kondo, he's the guy who designed the characters you think of when you think of "Ghibli", and he died in 1998 at age 47 from overwork
