This spring, Missouri adopted a law that ends St. Louis’ ability to run its own police, transferring control to the GOP-run state government. The law also requires St. Louis to commit 25% of its budget to policing.
Missouri Officials Seize Control of St. Louis Police, in Latest Bid to Shutter Local Reforms
The takeover returns St. Louis to a Civil War-era arrangement of state control. A local official calls the move "a clear gesture of white men wanting to control urban areas."

As much as Trump is a huge idiot, he’s not a total idiot. He loves to manipulate people.

The manipulation here is to further wedge centrist / corporatist Dems and progressives. He’ll use Mamdani as a foil (“look what they’re doing to Zohran!”) and co-opt Mamdani’s populism as his own
Trump on Mamdani: "I think he's gonna surprise some conservative people, actually. And some very liberal people he won't surprise because they already like him."

BREAKING: The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

Eighty-six Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Fond memories of that time Mike Johnson was president of a local law school that never opened its doors, in part because it was attached to a Baptist college that was losing its accreditation, and in part because it was always a scam from the start
Mike Johnson -- who is, yes, theoretically a lawyer -- has not had a chance to look at the American Constitution because he's been very busy lately, folks, he just can't see everything, gosh, how is he supposed to know if it's wrong that the president called for the execution of congress members?

The President endorses executing American politicians and the biggest newspaper in the country doesn’t find it newsworthy.

What the hell has happened
The New York Times' story about Trump calling for the execution of members of Congress ran on Page 16 today, with an itty-bitty promo on the front about halfway down the page.
No wonder Trump thinks he can get away with anything.

Dem leaders keep saying they want to work across the aisle. They claim it’s because people say they want politicians to work with each other.

Dems perpetuate the idea there’s a *possibility* of working together and the public echoes it back.

If Dem leaders face reality, people will follow suit

If you scroll on X, you are only being shown what Elon wants you to see. If you create content on X, no one will see it unless Elon wants them to.

“misquoted”

You misquote a video if you get a word or detail wrong (eg incorrect date, misattribution).

If what you quote was never even said in a video, you’re not misquoting.

Really wish journalists whose job is to dig the truth could be honest in their reporting.
Brian Allen

Kaitlan Collins caught Karoline Leavitt in real time:

As Leavitt walked off, Collins called out, “Karoline, you misquoted Democrats in that video. That’s actually not what they said.”

When your defense of the president relies on fake quotes, the story tells itself.
