I’ve Been Laid Off. I’m Not Done.
After 20 years at The Washington Post, I’m suddenly on my own — and still writing about books.

The draconian cuts at the Washington Post could be called committing suicide by a once-great journalism institution that deserved trust and respect. But I think it should be seen as the owner of the Washington Post committing murder in service to Donald J. Trump.

Reminder: In midst of Jeffrey Epstein's child sex ring, Donald Trump said this about Epstein to media: “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with." Trump added, "It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Heartbreaking.
Luke Ganger, Renee Good’s brother: “In the last few weeks, our family took some consolation thinking that perhaps ‘Nee’s death would bring about change in our country. It has not.”

Very strong statement from Episcopal Bishops including the Bishop of Rhode Island. Importantly, it includes a call for action.

"This is a moment for action. We call on people of faith to stand by your values and act as your conscience demands."

"What the anger over Alex Pretti’s killing shows very clearly is that Trump and the people that surround him are nowhere near as strong as they think they are. Quite the opposite. They’re vulnerable. All it takes to push them to back down is a mass of people rising up in fury."

She is absolutely correct, of course. But when MAGA made the files' release the high water mark for their guy Don, they salivated at the thought it would be mostly Dems caught in the dragnet. Now that it's also *their* folks, well ... never mind.
This Epstein drop is HUGE and utterly disgusting. I don’t see how this man is allowed to remain in office. Where are the evangelical leaders, the soccer moms, the folks stocking up on eggs, the farmers, the small business owners.

Decide. Who are you?

This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.

OK #Eugene! When you're out and about on Saturday, make it your mission to support small local businesses that close on Friday. Small sample of books at J. Michael's, for instance, that you could get on your way home from, say, a march downtown. #Oregon
