A Slime Mold that I found while splitting firewood. A few minutes after exposure to the open air, the little sausage-looking things popped and became orange fluff. I also like the Dr. Seussian stalked molds.

For Autism Acceptance Month, I would like to accept this autism on behalf of my body, from which I was so disconnected for years because its sensitivities and discomforts were inconvenient & had no explanation before I was diagnosed. We were right: the noises were too loud & the shirt was scratchy.

Violet Coral Fungus - Clavaria "zollingeri"
The true zollingeri is European. It's possible that there are really over half a dozen species going under this name as this species gets reported on nearly every continent. Good ol' taxonomic limbo.

Crust fungi may not be crowd pleasers, but when you look at them up close they have quite interesting textures.

Salmon pink tree fungus, possibly Peniophora incarnata.
