We are calling on political parties to vote down Brooke van Velden’s Pay Deductions for Partial Strikes Bill, as it will escalate industrial disputes and may even lead to workers losing pay for simply doing the job they were employed to do.

A couple of thoughts on what “work to rule” actually means that I didn’t appreciate until I went out contracting.

1: some companies expect you to do far more than you’re paid for. Check out the fantastic Office Space scene where Jennifer Aniston’s character is required to have more flare.

Working to rule is powerful because it means you're still doing the job you're paid for - and demonstrating how much extra your employer is expecting you to do on top, with no reward

Brooke van Velden thinks unpaid overtime and unrewarded extra duties are "a key part of the job"
These examples include working to rule

apparently the idea is employers need a way to punish people for meeting their work obligations
This is among the most anti-worker governments in a generation. And they just keep aiming for the top spot. Fully evil policy direction.

The Hīkoi is 14 times the size of the 2022 anti-mandate protest, yet there has been only one arrest.

Additionally, no one has bought a noose with them, and no one is calling for "Nuremberg trials" of politicians, or comparing David Seymour to Stalin

I would like to speak up today for the trans community.

You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1

I found a massive, sleeping hedgehog in a bag of donated clothes. He/she was relocated to the parish garden.
This is. Incredibly kind.
