Suspect I’m a minority (maybe not so small) but for me, issue that transcends all others is insistence he can make Brexit work. For me, only 2 explanations. He’s a fool or he believes I’m one. Neither good. I can see why he might want to avoid reopening debate but don’t pretend it’s not an issue

Similarly it doesn’t require Hercule Poirot to figure out why many economic and social progressives might dislike a Labour chancellor who has resisted tax rises while regularly insisting cuts to benefits and austerity for public services as necessary, until backbench unrest forces u-turns.

The single biggest mistake that Starmer seems to have made is his apparent belief that "the British public want" Brexit to work. What was needed was for him to have the courage to tackle this idiocy head-on when he became PM.

Instead Britain continues to sanction itself.

2025: Guardian, "UK failure to seal EU tax exemption hands industry mountain of paperwork"

MPs: please listen to him and then add your name to this Parliamentary call for a televised emergency briefing.
