“Trump has managed to cow huge swathes of America’s institutional media, despite the supposed protections the First Amendment offers. Thanks to his friendly relationship with tech CEOs, he has huge sway over online media, too. The bully pulpit has never been more powerful than under Trump.”
Win or lose, Trump's $1bn lawsuit would be a disaster for the BBC

A brilliant example of what Lewis Goodall talks about when he argues why right-wing radicals keep winning. They don't play by the rules and simply don't care. Whereas the institutions they want to destroy do even when said rules are contorted to absurdity and are blatantly being used against them.
The founder of Newsmax was just on the Today programme pontificating about bias. Boy, the BBC loves to submit itself to flagellation.

The BBC in Scotland has suppressed support for independence, which is supported by over 50% of Scots. The achievements of the Scottish government are omitted, ignored or talked down by unionist opposition parties. Many simply switch off because their news and current affairs are so dire!

This is the most deranged situation. We are literally being kicked about by fake-newsers threatening to bankrupt our own public service broadcaster, to shield an insurrectionist from a reality that he can’t accept.

Let's stop pretending that the billionaire media, endlessly attacking the BBC, has the slightest interest in balance, impartiality and accuracy. They won't be happy until the BBC is more rightwing than Vlad the Impaler. And then it still won't be enough.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

The "appropriate response" is to broadcast everything that Trump did and said on that appalling day for American democracy and then to tell this moron to sling his hook.
I might be wrong, but this stinks of Pharage involvement.

Well well well. The Tory client media will be shocked and horrified to learn of this. And there they were blaming Labour for the collapse of the prison system. And Sunak being days away from facing criminal procedures for it! Tories broke everything took all the money, salted the earth & left.
Another very pertinent fact that I have not seen mentioned ANYWHERE: In 14 years of Tory rule we had 14 Prisons Ministers - six in a single year, at one point - and a total of 11 Justice Secretaries, including Grayling, Raab, and Truss. In 13 years of Labour it was three: Irvine, Falconer, Straw. 🤔

But isn't this also an opportunity to make positive appointments?
Defend the BBC with everything you have.

We know how it’s been infiltrated by Tory political appointees but it’s OURS. It’s the only independent media we have left. That’s why they want to destroy it.

Not many people are talking about the children being harmed by #ICELawlessness but it's important to talk about.

What's happening to these kids is being paid for by our tax dollars.

We're paying for the torture of children.

I know this is beyond grim, but we must let people know about this!
