This is my old dog Betyar who looks very similar - except he had a wall eye. He died when he was 15 having travelled all over Europe with us, but mostly living in Cumbria.

Estate agent said nothing but the deeds said semi-derelict. Spent many yrs & £s restoring & researching house 1st recorded on 13thC document but sadly didn’t get it listed & next owner ripped out original Georgian windows & much more.

On Stainmore we used to have a Rayburn - good for cooking & also warming small animals - this was a previous cat Scotty - the small oven was her favourite place

Apparently toads are under threat as so many squashed on roads… this year found one which had somehow landed in watering can so made sure he/she was feed in woodland/fields away from road - apparently SW Scotland good for toads as it’s such a damp place!

We always had jackdaws in chimney when living on Pennines - rescued most before they were cooked. This is some years ago now, son James’ reaction to a sooty jackdaw

At this time of year picked all remaining tomatoes from the garden in Corsaint, Burgundy & then bottled them - still have a few left a year later
