capitalism is so evil man. My 95 year old grandmother has depression, not because she's homebound (she can't drive but she can walk and go out with other people just fine, doesn't even need a walker) but because she can't work anymore. She worked for fucking 70 years. She raised 4 kids alone.

I did a whole podcast about this but here it is again: the word "anime" should refer only to "Japanese animation," by any reasonable definition of that word (created in whole or in significant part in Japan). The fact that it can be easily misconstrued as anything else makes the word less useful.
