I feel like that makes it worse, bc it underscores that it's not just (using just loosely) RFK Jr randomly being a conspiracy addled eugenicist wackjob -- this catastrophe was coordinated and had the backing of the conservative legal movement
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

Biden took over a shutdown economy in the middle of a global pandemic that brought on global inflation. The economic headlines leading up to the 2024 election were mostly about how our economic recovery was the envy of the world.

I'm getting really tired of hearing these whiners tell this lie.

I'm very tired of repeating myself about this, but, as someone who works professionally on housing affordability, this is a disgusting lie.
Vance: "Why have rents gone down for 4 consecutive months? Because we're starting to get those illegal aliens out of the USA. Those criminals, those gang members, those people that are taking homes that ought by right go the people in this room. It's simple economics."

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

i.e. If you're Black---but you openly serve (the interests of) White people---provision/protection/dispensation can be extended to you.

e.g. There's a seat/You're safe---as long as you serve (the interests of) Whiteness.

See: model minority, junior partner, globalization, int'l relations, etc.
The Montgomery City Code Rosa Parks violated on December 1, 1955 required segregation on buses to “separate the white people from negroes” and also gave bus drivers explicit police powers to enforce that law. If you were a Black caretaker of a White person riding the bus, however, you were exempted.

Appunto.

> human ≠ mean
> insistent ≠ mean
> impolite ≠ mean
> confrontational ≠ mean

Yet, when you are a stigmatized/derogated person, any discourse/behavior is subject to further stigma/derogation.
“When you are a minoritized person in this world, you gotta be mean to get people up off you. You gotta get people up off you.”

A message I heard today.

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for a Texas congressional map that may help the GOP win five more U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterms. A lower court found the map is likely unconstitutional.

Metaphors are figures of speech that apply the unapplicable.

This is habitual behavior that reliably outlines the observable.

It's not metaphorical that the USian Majority is, materially-normatively, anti-Black.
The town I went to college in opted to destroy its public pool instead of integrate it and the story itself was an open secret. It's the perfect metaphor for American society right now.
ACA = “Obamacare”. Same thing. Its proof that many white folks would rather shoot off their own foot if they knew something helped a black or latino person get by too. Its no different from how they used to fill public pools with cement during integration resulting in everyone being hot & miserable.
