In a nutshell, this is it. They will try to destroy any leftist takeover, like they did with Bernie, even if this means more power to the GOP. *Nothing* that Trump has done (ICE, Cecot, tariffs, USAID, frivolous prosecutions of Trump oponents, even the murder of the Hortmans) matters to them.
Schumer and his friends want Trump to have power because they hate you. They are furious Mamdani won in a landslide and are afraid of repeats all over the country. Their solution is open capitulation to the far right.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

I disagree with this. Nobody needs to be paid 1/2 mil, and I mean nobody. Everybody needs to be paid a normal salary and nobody should be allowed to be rich. We can't fix our world with more capitalism, we just can't.
ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up

The problem is Dems have no solutions either and Mamdani's win convinced them as long as they keep saying "affordability" then people will clap like seals.
