Romance novels are sometimes accused of being an assemblage of garbage tropes that anyone can write. If RWA takes this tack, the genre WILL BECOME exactly that. They should be fighting that misconception, not embracing it.
RWA's FB page is promoting a workshop on using AI to write a romance novel. I'm astounded at this nonsense. There is never a low that RWA won't sink to. #romancelandia

As someone raised in the fires of early 00s forums, seeing furry art in feeds where I least expect it is like seeing wolves thriving in Yellowstone again. A healthy furry population is the sign of effective rewilding efforts.

I think what bugs me most about the anti-grimdark crowds is the shallowness of their reading. Like you're going to sit there and call George R. R. "structured my pen name after Tolkien" Martin grim and dark? As the old dude says, "oh sweet summer child."

It is! It absolutely is! And the idea that reading/writing 'morally appropriate' work is what makes you a 'good' person is so dangerously reactionary that it shocks me it's taken as 'true' and that people who push back against it are called bigots.

This is how I feel about Sandman Episode 6, with the addition that it wouldn't have been my award, but an award for everyone who made it. That the episode was deemed mysteriously ineligible just makes the 2023 Hugo Awards feel shady.
