look at this charming tauhou / waxeye nest found under a tree, presumably blown out or dislodged by a possum.

horse hair, pig hair (?), moss, small twigs & A FULL HYDRANGEA FLOWER woven in. bless

As the Aussies like to warble “Time for a cool change” 20 degrees cooler in our back garden from yesterday’s high.

Family around the country are in our messenger group exchanging temperatures. Could get competitive? Auckland, northern Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, inland North Canterbury, Christchurch. I think we have some of the hottest, windiest spots covered.

Thinking of some favourite lovely places in Victoria and hoping they survive the fire threat. The Ottways, Mallacoota, the Grampians.

We have a sun porch with big leadlight windows. Aussie bushfires are creating a distinct brassy light through them. Feeling for those affected right now.

Went to a 60th wedding anniversary yesterday! Lots of people we hadn’t seen for years. The lottery of aging- some incredibly frail and others not looking their age including an 88 year old who could have passed for 20 years younger!

Met a friend for iced coffee at Riverlution this morning. The place was as heaving, people coming in groups on bikes in this heat phew! Retreated at 11 when it was 30.

Ōtautahi phew. Just come in from an hour of gardening and it’s 25! Neighbour is stacking firewood and sharing his music 🙄 Also I thought I caught a whiff of the Bromley smell, surely not, there’s no wind.

About the only comfort is knowing this wretched man’s life, and presumably money, is being consumed by his refusal to accept any responsibility over the CTV building. Craven.
