This guy shouting "merchant of doubt" at people asking reasonable questions about the vibes-based categorization of foods as "ultra processed" used in scientific claims.
Ultraprocessed foods are the product of a food economy driven by corporate profit, not nutrition or sustainability - & political lobbying is the largest barrier to implementing effective policies to tackle the rise of UPFs. www.thejournal.ie/ultra-proces...

Elizabeth May and the "Green Party" supported this.
At COP30 Canada just got awarded the fossil of the day — first time since 2014 (the harper years). Clear sign of how Carney’s pro fossil fuel agenda and backsliding on climate policy is being noticed internationally.

The study's sponsor, Too Good to Go (a marketing company for the food industry), suggests using "the sniff test" but the foods listed as most frequently discarded all grow pathogens undetectable by smell:

mayonnaise-based deli salads, fish, chicken, pork, deli meats, smoked fish and beef.
40% of Gen Z Canadians misinterpret best before dates on food, leading to significant waste: study
25 per cent of Gen Z's discard food with expired best before dates, even if it is safe to eat, which is an average cost of $329 of food waste

A theme in V for Vendetta (perhaps more the books than the movie) is that survivors of atrocities are the ones that get burdened with the work of change and it's very hard for sympathetic allies to do this work because they are easily coopted by either carrot or stick.

I naively joined the NDP to vote in the leadership contest. I canceled my membership because it's obvious that no matter who wins they will not change and their only purpose as a party is to allow people west of Ontario to vote Liberal.

Good morning.

If you live in Alberta, you should know that today your government will invoke the notwithstanding clause to wage war against transgender Albertans.

Not because transgender persons are harmful, but because the UCP is distracting you from their mountain of failures.

Meanwhile, drug dealers get charged with culpable homicide when their clients overdose.

And by "drug dealers" I mean poor people trying to survive, not Pablo Escobar.

2000 Pennsylvania students were issued Macbooks by their school for use at home.

Then, a 15 y.o. was accused of selling drugs. School officials cited a photograph taken in his bedroom from the webcam on his school-issued laptop as proof.

But it was Mike & Ike candy.

It weird how Larry Summers became "deeply ashamed" about emails he wrote 8 years ago only last week, when they went public. It's as if he's not ashamed at all and just doing PR... 🤔

I wonder if Carney will actually enforce the Canada Health Act?
He'll probably not, and even let other provinces follow suit, and we'll hear about how he's so smart and playing 3D chess with Alberta from all of his sycophants.

This is BS. The caucus strategically had two members abstain because the NDP didn't want an election.

If this is how Lewis is as a candidate its unlikely he will be able to take on the rot in the NDP that has essentially destroyed the Party.

I think the NDP is done.
I’m with the majority of the @ndp.ca caucus who voted against this austerity budget that would have made Stephen Harper smile, a gusher of corporate welfare and weapons spending that does nothing to make the lives of working people more affordable.

Are we to believe that May and Carney didnt plan that little exchange? May sucks so bad and the harm that she's done to the Greens over her tenure has more than eclipsed winning a seat for the Party.
Elizabeth May says she will vote for the budget to stop an election happening by accident. She cites that the PM committed to maintaining Paris Targets during #QP, which helped to convince her.

Counterpoint: pedophilia in men is already normalized, as evidenced--among other things--by the widespread child sexual abuse in NA and Europe for the last few hundred years.

Many men are also victims of CSA. What this wave of pro-pedo media is doing is trying to lessen their cognitive dissonance.
They need people to believe “all men” are attracted to kids to normalize it. It’s just not true, and easily proven to not be true.

This reminds me of nursing. Nurses think we're in it to get paid and wear giant arm cannons. The government and public believe we do it because of our motherly altruism and the pay is a nice little thank you present that varies with how much is leftover after they go shopping for tax cuts and police
There is a trend of video game narratives where women are prominent to be overly focused on motherhood and the 'natural' nurturing urges we're all supposed to harbor. It happens even when the woman in question wears power armor and blasts aliens with a giant arm cannon.
The entire fandom’s (and Retro Studios) initial assumption: “Oh she hunts down the baddest monsters in the galaxy and gets paid for it, right?”

Nintendo: “What? No. She’s like humanity’s motherly guardian. What are you talking about.”
