If Canada remains on the sidelines and remains silent in the face of blatant violations of international law against states and international organizations, who will speak up when the U.S. turns its gaze, once more, to us?

The moderate position here is that every single ICE agent should be tried and put in prison for their many crimes. That's the baseline

Our reporters are on site at the vigil - network congestion preventing uploads currently. We would estimate up to 10,000 people are attending the vigil near 34th and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis at this time.

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

I can’t stress this enough to foreign friends: don’t come to the US now. Whatever rights we boast of having, those are off the table. Masked goons kidnap and kill people. However bad you think it is from the news, it’s worse and falling fast. You don’t want to sightsee in a falling empire.

There are many, many people still viewing world events like today's through an ideological prism, as if the Trump regime has coherent or principled worldviews.

The sane among us realize Trump could just as easily "capture" the Canadian Prime Minister next month, on a whim.

Also probably no practical difference in consequences because no one will stand up for anyone. I don't think collective security against the US is a thing. They can literally pick us off one by one if they choose. Which is the whole reason behind the concept of collective security, but here we are.
