I dunno, man. Seems pretty wild to write an extensive piece like this and only give a cursory mention of why so many people "declined to be interviewed."

The man has sued so many people for even just TWEETING about the case. But I still gotta listen to CanLit elites play the victim? C'mon.
Opinion: A decade ago, writer Steven Galloway’s cancellation tore CanLit apart. The effects linger to this day
The bestselling novelist faced sexual-assault allegations, costing him his job. Marsha Lederman asks, would this case be handled differently today?

An excellent thread on Wuthering Heights & race
When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. I'm going to share a little material from a recent talk. Content note: racism 1/

What we can't afford is Landsdowne 2.0, but somehow you think there's money for that.

What people need, when there is a rising cost of living, is a government that provides truly necessary services, which this budget does not do.
Some city councillors are calling for higher tax increases, but in a time of rising food and housing costs, we can't afford to add to the burden of renters, homeowners, and small businesses.

Main St. in Ottawa is an example of a change what would not be allow under Doug Fraud's Bill 60. This video also gives you a peek at the new connection from Hawthorne to Colonel By. It's pretty good. The other side, going the other way, is crap (no video yet). #ottBike #NoBill60

On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Someone says “I thought you were dead” and Bond gives a rakish smile and a wink, then they move on.

They’re really overthinking this. If there’s one thing you learn as a writer, it’s don’t overexplain.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

On this eve of fifty Novembers
the winds still howl
the bell still tolls.

My breath turns heavy
as we drift into the long cold night.
The Fitzgerald stirs beneath.

I harbor their echoes
and cradle her steel.

My waves bear the sorrow
of all I have taken.

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Dick Cheney was proud to have normalized state-sponsored torture. That, and the dead of Iraq in an unjust war, constitute his entire legacy. “That’s not funny” is a meme-y cliche but I don’t care about the friend he shot or our jokes about it. Cheney is Kissinger level. He made the world worse.

The Auditor General recently released her second sprint audit for Lansdowne 2.0. The risks are very concerning and if realized will lead to tens of millions more in costs for the city of #Ottawa.

Proud to join renters and activists as we fight back against Ford's attack on tenant rights.

Bill 60 would:

🚨 Make it easier for tenants to be evicted
🚨 Make it harder to fight back against bad landlords
🚨 Limit appeals against evictions

There’s a lot about this to be angry about, but the idea that any art has a ‘service life’ is so offensive
The contempt the city has shown for this expensive and genuinely impressive piece of art it bought and proudly installed is just perfectly symbolic of how it treats both the public realm and its own investments.

Artist fears Lansdowne installation may become '$2 million of scrap metal'
The final Lansdowne 2.0 report recommends decommissioning the art installation Moving Surfaces because there's no budget to restore it.
