Berlin’s senate invests >12 mio EUR for 3 NFL games in Berlin, at a time where they cut millions at the universities that are already underfunded, with collapsing buildings. They definitely seems to have priorities that are not mine.

⚠️ Paper alert: Using a novel CRISPR screening approach, we mapped the entire regulatory network controlling Xist—key for X-chromosome inactivation.

Reporter CRISPR screens decipher cis-regulatory and trans-regulatory principles at the Xist locus - Nature Structural & Molecular Biology
Here Schwämmle et al. develop CRISPR reporter screens to map transcription-factor-regulatory element interactions at the Xist locus, revealing a two-step mechanism integrating developmental and X-dosage signals to initiate X-chromosome inactivation.

When I was at NIH and shutdowns loomed, it was discovered that the administration was planning to shut down PubMed. The head of NCBI called the powers that be and pointed out that this would threaten patient safety

Who knows what will happen now

The Ärzteblatt asked me about the instability of Pubmed (Why my? Don't know...). Not sure if I agree with the colleagues that we should build up national resources, I rather think we should strengthen existing European ones (e.g. EuropePMC, ENA, EGA...)... www.aerzteblatt.de/archiv/wisse...

First session: Uli Keilholz of the comprehensive cancer center on how complex data and models are now used in the clinics, and Heiko Enderling on modeling approaches. Both show excellent examples on how computation already now is impotent for clinical decisions, and how it will be in future.

Why do kids respond differently to a new virus than adults? Lev has the answer… it is differences in Stat signaling. Happy that we (mainly @astaburuaga-garcia.bsky.social ) could contribute a bit. Congratulations @sawitzkilab.bsky.social and @woodenrobo.bsky.social to this great paper!
Excited to see my magnum opus published! Here, we explore how age correlates with changes in STAT signaling and modulates the immune response towards inflammation. See for youself!
Also, it's been a long time since pre-print, so here's the reworked explainer thread!
