The Trump Regime is speedily reinstalling Confederate monuments across the country, renaming military bases back to their Confederate general namesakes... 1/
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

Trump likes to brag that he doesn't take his presidential salary (this, of course, is setting aside the projected $50 million American taxpayers have spent on him playing golf at his personally-owned properties in 2025 alone), but let's extrapolate on the salary numbers quick. 🧵 1/

The thing about Nazis is their speech is all hate speech, all of it, not free speech, because Nazism is predicated on violence and contemporary Nazism is predicated on knowing about genocide and approving of it and wanting to do it again.

Once American democracy made it possible for a Black man to be elected president, American conservatives decided that it had to be destroyed
While Vought traces the “leftwing revolution” back a hundred years, to the progressive era, there is no question that the election of Barack Obama was a radicalizing moment for him and many key thinkers on the radical Right - as were the multiracial protests in the summer of 2020.

hey @nytimes.com: there is no counterpoint here. There are no credible legal experts who would EVER say that the US military has any right or authority to blow civilian craft out of the Caribbean and kill their crews from afar without any provocation. There is no other side to this question.

Two things about tonight's news:

1) "Power doesn't panic." -Cassian Andor

2) "The <Trump Regime's> need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear." -Karis Nemik

There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

"When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest...The monster who will come for us all soon enough is <the MAGA movement>."
A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

Seeing the story below this morning is so ironic. Today is the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Antietam – the bloodiest single day of the Civil War (about 22,717 killed/wounded/missing/captured), and American history overall – ending the first invasion of US territory since the War of 1812. 🗃️🧵 1/

The lionization of Charlie Kirk genuinely proves the point about centrists and leading media figures. The man dehumanized women, minorities, transgendered people, Muslims, etc was building bridges by debating others on these views that all these people are less than human. What a great guy.
