Hi to new followers!
I’m a book reviewer that posts reviews on Instagram but I also have gotten into vinyl records in the last year so I like to post what I’m listening too.

I also love video games and movies and will usually post about them as well.

Welcome!

The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting.

AI people think that creation is all about suffering for us deluded, self-flagellating luddites, pounding away at a fucking stone tablet or whatever, refusing to embrace technology because we don't think that "write me a character" constitutes art or anything someone should be proud of.

We are adrift in an infinite sea of space

And in all that immensity we know of only one place with life: the Earth

All of us who are privileged to be alive today share this tiny blue dot

But our time is but an instant in the Earth's multi-billion-year history

Never forget the bonds that unite us
Most distant image of Earth, taken by NASA’s Voyager spacecraft on 14 February 1990.

How about remembering that we are all on this dot together?

Twitter was an important part of promoting my work & did it more effectively than Bluesky… but encouraging right-wing voices on here or using X wouldn’t bring that back anyway, it’s gone
We’re in an era of fragmentation/decline for “microblogging”, pick the least worst fragments & try to enjoy them
"Bluesky is an echo chamber."
"Bluesky doesn't have enough reach"
"Liberals must return to X to challenge the far right"

I'm not a tech bro or a journalist. Your priorities are not my priorities. Stop telling me I need to do anything other than chat about comics & telly with people who seem nice.

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

Elon Musk keeps trying to sell the "suicidal empathy" myth. This toxic concept has no place in a global world where we rely on other nations and cultures, and they rely on us.

In 2025 and beyond, empathy isn't "suicidal", it is often the mechanism that makes survival possible.

I learnt how to draw when I was 30 through free ressources and tips online. Back then I had no skill, no money, I was suicidal and my health issues prevented me from even leaving my fucking bed.
What's preventing you from creating is your own greed, pride and laziness.

Two are one, life and death,

like hands joined together,
like the end and the way.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.
