One of the most depressing things about Carney’s brilliant speech is the certain knowledge that neither Keir Starmer nor any other senior British politician of any party could have given anything like it - even if they understood the arguments.
“Principled and pragmatic: Canada’s path” Prime Minister Carney addresses the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting
Thank you, Larry. It’s a pleasure – and a duty – to be with you at this turning point for Canada and for the world.Today, I’ll talk about the rupture in the world order, the end of a nice story, and th...

This week on The Evolution of Horror, we cover THREADS! Why not give it a listen and brighten up your Friday?

I’d recommend listening to the episode but not watching the film 😆😭
Jesus Christ they've done it. @mikemuncer.bsky.social and Anna Bogutskaya have covered THREADS on Evolution of Horror (and it's predictably brilliant).

Get it where you get your podcasts.

FYI The Hidden is an absolute banger. An 80s gem I'd never even heard of before @mikemuncer.bsky.social and the EoH podcast brought it to my attention. Guns, car chases, alien body horror, Kyle Machlaclan, Lin Shaye, a brief Danny Trejo. Lovely stuff.

Devastated to hear about Rob Reiner.
Has there ever been a better, more eclectic consecutive run of films than Spinal Tap, The Sure Thing, Stand By Me, Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men?!

It’s been an EOH kinda year 🥰. I’m just gutted Hammer Time didn’t quite make it to give me a complete set. 😭. Guessing it must have just missed the cut off date. Next year for sure. @mikemuncer.bsky.social

It’s always such an honour to have Queen of Horror @horrornonna.com on the podcast!
Give thanks for the legendary @mikemuncer.bsky.social who's just gone live with a new episode of the great Evolution of Horror poddy, where I was kindly invited to join him on a deep dive into two of my favourites - The Stepford Wives (1975) and Demon Seed (1977) 💜

Great chat between @mikemuncer.bsky.social and @horrornonna.com on Evolution of Horror this week. THE STEPFORD WIVES chat especially made me appreciate the film more, and I love it when an EoH episode does that.

Extra points for the SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON shout out too.

A racist might forget, but a victim of racism never does.
"My most vivid memories of my school life is Farage repeatedly coming up to me, knowing that I was Jewish, saying 'Hitler was right' and 'gas em' and that was frequently followed by imitating the sound of escaping gas."

There’s a very awkward masturbation story from one of us during this episode.
If that doesn’t whet your appetite I don’t know what will

Feels depressingly apt to reshare this
It’s becoming increasingly, scarily acceptable to be openly racist in UK politics with zero consequences. It’s also seemingly increasingly taboo to call someone out for being racist, but lets all keep calling this out:
complaining about the “lack of white faces” in a city is really fucking racist.
Robert Jenrick complained of ‘not seeing another white face’ in part of Birmingham
