"Mortal Shell" is £2.50 on PS Store. Took a punt, but if it's not for me I will track down @nickjcal.bsky.social and... politely disagree with him.

Just realised yesterday marks one full year sober. I guess that speaks to how little I miss booze now.

Still surprised I've done it, though.

Finally found an excuse to elaborate on my reading of "Assassin's Creed" as "Renaissance-era James Bond".

Picturing the NVIDIA presentation like an old WCW show with Ed Zitron watching from the rafters like Sting.

Never understood the Freudian "Death Drive" until I restarted my Netflix subscription and saw the Director's Cuts of Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon" on the homepage.

Am I *actually* going to submit myself to the psychic damage of all six-and-a-half hours?!

Probably.

Always thought the Broncos would make the playoffs without a wildcard game this season, but "AFC Champions", will do nicely too.

An upside of having a day job is the freedom to make whatever the hell I want in my spare time.

As time goes on, each throws the qualities other into clearer focus.

Faffing around on Photoshop of a Sunday afternoon, had a stab at a scanned page from my old "Destiny" colouring book. Still learning.

Feeling like I'm the only person on Bluesky that didn't watch "Muppts Christmas Carol". Real "Last Man on Earth" vibes.

Set my nieces' first console up. Four Mario Kart races later, they're hardcore gamers who refuse advice from a noob like me.

Excellent.

I finished reading "Empire of AI", had to take "rage breaks" every 20 pages. And listened to Cory Doctorow's "Enshittification" as well. Plus Ed Zitron's "Better Offline" podcast.

There is a major reckoning with the tech platforms we use coming soon.

Looking forward to what comes after.

We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.

An uneven "killer car" double bill, and a couple of horror anthology entries this week.

I also finally finished the "Dead Again" essay!
