My genuine opinion at this point is that the desired outcomes behind these approaches are two-fold: 1) death or at least life-long detransition for the children, or 2) emigration of the family to a more supportive jurisdiction. I think the latter is absolutely a feature and not an incidental.

Thank God somebody brought this up. I read references to it in a very stupid pseudoscientific piece in the New Yorker last month, and the retconning of the lax Swedish lockdown strategy makes my blood boil. It's not that long ago: they had so many excess deaths that they changed policies, months in!
Pretty egregious error from this book: The authors say Swedish deaths fell by 2.3% during the pandemic, proving that the country's lax lockdown strategy worked.
But they misread their source: Mortality is only down if you remove the COVID deaths.

Absolutely insane. Uneblieveable. "Sex Matters", one of the hate groups responsible for removing trans people's rights via the Supreme Court are arguing that trans people shouldn't be allowed to transition because they don't have rights and not having rights is bad. Fucking hell
I'm not kidding. That's the fucking argument. "Kids will be harmed by the policy we rammed through once they grow up, so do conversion therapy on them."
