This is one of the most important yet least told stories in Seattle over the last 5 years: the steady scaling back of transit service, even as we expand light rail. We need to bring transit back closer to more people.
Seattle used to fund so much transit service until covid (and jenny durkan)
In 2019, almost 75% of the city lived within walking distance of a bus every 10 mins or better. Today, it's only like 50%!
Time to get the buses running again!

Mind you the median property in Yarrow Point is worth at least $3m last I checked
Signs your municipal tax structure is fundamentally broken: the Town of Yarrow Point is asking residents to get their new iPhone delivered to their house instead of buying it in Bellevue so they get the sales tax revenue.

I bought this Cleverhood for cycling but I’ve ended up using it more to walk to the 542 bus & Link in torrential rain than expected, pleased to report that the key to staying dry in Seattle does involve looking goofy as hell

Going to be a confusing few months again for visitors
Sound Transit is installing new signage at Capitol Hill Station. The new signage includes the 2 Line destination information!

Still boggles the mind that Sound Transit has allowed the use of Downtown in station names to be so haphazard (Bellevue Downtown, Downtown Redmond, and now Fed Way Downtown), while not putting “Downtown” on ANY of the Downtown Seattle stops
Even more than the fact that the trains don't go to these places yet, the new signage is confusing to visitors in that it might lead them to believe Federal Way has a downtown.

One critique of Trunk or Treats I don’t hear enough of is how it essentially excludes people without small children from Trick or Treating. Don’t have kids yet? Kids are too old to Trick or Treat? Ok, guess you’re excluded from this tradition forever now lol

Thinking about how many parents drive their kids to other neighborhoods they aren’t familiar with to trick or treat, because their neighbors don’t participate, and how that makes the roads less safe for everyone.
Anyway just moved to a residential part of North Seattle and bought a lot of candy 🎃

All four of my grandparents were born British subjects in Ireland, and one of them was born 2 months before the establishment of the Irish Free State and like 18 months before the first Irish passport was issued (which was controversial and did not go down well with the British government).
Two of my four grandparents came into the world as subjects of a foreign king and left it as citizens of a free Republic. I think about it all the time.
The doings and transprirings of the "Royal" families of more backward nations are of no consequence to us citizens of free republics

Lowell being in the middle of Capitol Hill should have a great walk score, but it seems like there are virtually no families nearby sending their kids there. We lived nearby for years and rarely saw kids walking to school.
I've been calculating the amount of each Seattle neighborhood elementary attendance area that overlaps with its walk zone. In how much of the city can kids walk to their assigned neighborhood school? Here's the answer!

Anyone who thinks no one takes the Link to commute needs to try boarding a train at Northgate or Roosevelt between 8 and 9 during a weekday morning commute. It’s standing room only. 2 Line cannot open soon enough.
