Here is your Sunday Spider, I think a Psecas chapoda jumping spider. From what I've read, they have a mutualistic relationship with a bromeliad, Bromelia balansae. The spiders live exclusively among the plant's spiny rosettes; in turn their debris/droppings feed the plant. #Arachtober #Bugsky 🌿🐙

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

Stephen Colbert, during last night’s show, invited The New Yorker’s editor to unveil the magazine’s next cover — a satirical illustration of Trump’s tiny hand hovering over the mute button of a remote control, a not-so-subtle jab at his obsession with silencing critics.
