As a Chicagoan, I feel good about how our governor and our mayor have handled things, but that doesn't change the reality of the moment—and this is a very ugly, very challenging moment.

my favorite robert redford story is that mike nichols considered him for dustin hoffman's part in THE GRADUATE. during their conversation nichols asked redford something like, "have you ever struck out with a girl?" and redford's response was basically, "i don't understand the question"

Please chill, "didn't you know ICE was already doing this?" peanut gallery.

Chicago has had very low arrest numbers. We've been in a lull since their attempts at immigration court in June.

In the last week and a half, they've kidnapped hundreds of people.

That we know about.

It’s a truly magical place and someday, I’ll go back.
I have wanted to visit Cape Town for years, and it did not disappoint at all. An incredible place; really one of the world’s great cities.

man they really didn't give a shit about that guy. as soon as it was clear they couldn't use his death to launch a purge they started to treat it like a nothingburger
Q: My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. How are you holding up?

TRUMP: I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get for about 150 years.

We hate women and children in general, but especially poor women and children. We want the idea of them, never the reality.
Why are folks mad at the working mom with kids on Medicaid and SNAP rather than companies like Walmart that refuse to pay her a living wage and provide health insurance?

It’s a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. It’s perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose “no” vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.
