Very jealous that you're about to witness one of the most stirring England wins of the last fifty years.

La Vie: a mode d'emploi
Sara Gran's Claire DeWitt novels.

Or Lanark by Alasdair Gray.
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

Somebody really needs to make these cos-playing weirdos get a proper job. Senior Policy Fellow indeed. Six weeks on the tills at Asda and all this shite is beaten right out of him.
Harrison Pitt accuses the King of treachery. Pitt is a Senior Policy Fellow for Rupert Lowe's Restore Britain, who also regularly co-hosts podcasts with his ally Tomlinson (who advocates banning all ethnic and faith minorities from public office). Like Lowe, Pitt is keen to dissolve boundaries/norms

I've wished the late night so and so's a Merry Christmas, so best to wish the bright'-eyed morning R?TL one, too, to be even-handed. Merry Christmas to you all!

(And if this time of year is difficult for whatever reason, I hope it passes as pleasurably as possible)

My TL has a remarkable amount of people confessing drunkenness. I've only just finished work, alas. Merry Christmas you absolute shower of reprobates.

Wolf Alice are one of those bands, like Biffy Clyro, that I just find entirely unmemorable. I'm aware they exist, and are well regarded, but you could play me ten of their songs, that I've previously heard, tell me it was them and I'd still look at you blankly.

I'm actually in real life a professional chef, and I have zero fucking idea where people get this time from. Genuinely very envious.
Imagine having a list of favourite cookbooks of 2025. Imagine having had time to cook even a single recipe from a single cookbook in order to have *one* favourite cookbook of 2025.

I’m reminded of watching two old ladies ask a teenage goth for directions and she politely told them and when she was out of earshot one lady said “You know where you are with a goth”
Things are Terrible, but this isn't.

Be weird.

In my regular writing days I had a few exercises which I'd use to get my brain moving. Outsourcing that to a machine completely misses the point.
I just saw someone yell “they’re just using it to generate ideas!”

And

I hate to say it

But if you work in the ART DEPARTMENT and you need a death machine stuffed with your colleagues’ work to give you ideas

Quit.

ATTENTION #COYSSKY Bosh Nonce thinks Tim Davie resigned because of him
I’ve just realised that Skinner seems to be implying that Tim Davie resigned because of him and not, y’know, the widely-reported story involving the President of the United States
