It's also worth noting here that the *minimum* salary for these ICE positions is $52,205. While the *median* salaries for childcare workers and home health aides are less than $35,000 per year.
This ICE job posting reads like a video game ad. Which is almost certainly by design.

This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

Speaks to something deeply wrong with capitalism that Lampert was allowed to annihilate the value of this company to less than nothing while still walking away with hundreds of millions in profits for himself from the saga.
Sears had more than 3,400 stores in 2005 -- then it was purchased by a hedge fund magnate.

Someone remake “It’s a Wonderful Life” but Mr. Potter believes that hoarding is morally required so he can devote resources to delivering a far future with trillions of humans while George Bailey is like, “Gosh Darnit! What if taking care of people today is what takes care of people in the future?!”

The USPS isn’t a business, it’s a government service. How much money does Congress lose? Or SCOTUS? Or the White House? Which one has provided more value for the American people in the 12 months ending in September?

The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.

The basic truth is the University of Oklahoma fired an instructor because she had the audacity to do her job while trans. Media like CNN are complicit in simultaneously pushing the anti-trans narrative and covering up the brutal outcomes of this societal purge.

Clinicians who actually saw the horrors of COVID (and didn’t get infected, because masks fucking work 🤷🏻‍♂️) are pretty pissed at this. Especially the @newyorker.com - I expect better 🤦🏻‍♂️
The thesis of the book is that early COVID lockdowns weren't worth it and mid-COVID mitigation measures like masks, contact tracing and business closures don't work.

This is laughably false and the authors have endorsed the people now running Trump's HHS.

Zero tolerance is the ONLY and FITTING response to genAI being used in production of media.

Sure, you might think it's too harsh. Sure, they might've only used it for early stuff in development, etc

Listen, it's not even a SLIPPERY slope, there is NO friction at all unless we speak out against it.

I have received maybe 5 parking tickets in my life, and that includes one where the PPA made a typo entering my license plate number and they cancelled the ticket.
Whenever the Girldad Cybertruck starts going around again I am obligated to point out that the MD license plate attached to it has $39,926.21 in parking and speeding tickets since 2014 when it was likely on a different car that signaled the owner was an asshole

Above everything else that needs to happen in the next presidency, Trump’s name needs to be removed from everything. Not just the stuff he rebranded, but everything. America had no 45th or 47th president. Nothing would hurt him more than his name being forgotten.

Do they have a trust & safety team watching the comments?
