Rejection is one of the toughest parts about academia and this post provides some great guidance on how to deal with it (that I will start trying to follow myself).

Here's a couple of thoughts that the post triggered, if those happen to be of interest:
Every academic career is built on rejection, but we don’t show it.

CVs list publications, grants & awards, not rejected manuscripts, unfunded proposals, or failures.

But those invisible rejections shape us more than our successes ever do.

Most work out there argues that it doesn't pay off for center-right parties to move closer to the far-right.

Using some of the best evidence yet, this paper shows that the same is true for center *left* parties.

Crucial finding as these parties increasingly move in a nativist direction.

In many countries, mainstream politicians are adopting rhetoric and policies that typical of the far-right.

Our new paper (w/ @dziblatt.bsky.social and E Dinas), out now in the @bjpols.bsky.social, finds that doing so erodes norms more than when far-right politicians make similar statements.

A study in 🇩🇰🇩🇪🇬🇧 finds that when mainstream voters see their party cooperating with radical right parties, they’re more likely to adopt nativist views. Alliances may normalize exclusionary ideas.

Great article by @gabrielagreilinger.bsky.social on Orbán's successful efforts to bring far right and "mainstream right" elites together.

What is important about these recent event though, is that the "mainstream right" and far right now meet on far-right events and, thus, on their terms.

I'd like every current PhD student in political science to chew on this, please.

Starry-eyed fascination with numbers doesn't get you very far if you haven't tried to understand what the things you are measuring mean to actual people.
Ganz killing it here, combining a critical methodological perspective on how polling is done with fundamental political theory about what politics is & what it involves:
