Reading this, you have a simple epistemic choice: either the Financial Times is a rabidly anti-semitic paper relaying serial blood libels or Israel is in fact committing war crimes, up to and including genocide

For veterans of the Eurozone crisis, this is quite incredible - today Greece has a lower borrowing cost than both the UK and the US for their 10 year bonds.

I had to check, all of the previous so called 'PIIGS' (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain) have lower borrowing costs than the US today.

Ikke alle børn er tætte nok med deres bedsteforældre til at de vil lade sig passe, når de er syge.

Ikke alle bor tæt nok til at det overhovedet er muligt at arrangere med kort varsel.

Great thread on why Trump's tariffs and attacks on U.S. institutions is idiocy of historic proportions.
It is difficult to convey how monumentally idiotic Trump’s tariffs are.

Allow me to try.

Let’s begin with Adam Smith.

In the 200 years prior to Smith’s 1776 “Wealth of Nations” Mercantilism was the dominant view of trade.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

There will be no election in Ukraine before there is peace, and Putin will not agree to peace as long as Zelensky is in power.

Peace is thus not achievable anytime soon. How will Trump attempt to avoid loosing face and who will he blame for his failure?

In 2019, a forged letter from Greenland’s foreign minister to U.S. Senator Tom Cotton appeared online.

It praised U.S. support and hinted at fast-tracking independence — with a request for funding.

It was fake. But its goals were real. Let’s break it down. 👇

The Netherlands seems to be ahead of most European countries in drawing the logical consequences from the fact that America is no longer a trustworthy ally. Beyond defence, the Dutch colleagues are already discussing decoupling relating to financial payment systems and to software dependencies.

Rubio’s position seems to be:

- We get to say who is a terrorist. Our decision is final. It can’t be challenged. Just trust us.
- Once we decide you are a terrorist, we can immediately deport you. No judges.
- After we deport you, we can make you rot in a foreign prison. No criminal charges needed.
On Hugh Hewitt’s show, Marco Rubio says El Salvador is “housing” people sent by the US. But he never says on what possible legal authority? These people haven’t committed any crime in El Salvador and by their own admission “many” have never committed a crime in the US. It all seems entirely lawless.
