I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

These are the stories people would tell me about their lives in various countries and I’d grant them asylum.
I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.

When you drag a woman by the hair, beat her and force her to kiss your flag, that’s how you tell the world you are the Good Guys
Absolutely heinous.

When Tiktok becomes the same MAGA hellscape as X, remember you have the Democrats to thank despite Fight for the Future and many other civil liberty and free expression experts ringing the alarm about how the sale of Tiktok could backfire.

This is the biggest self own Democrats have ever done. They handed control of the largest social media platform to far right regime allies.

They just tear-gassed us. They tried to run us over in a van holding a peaceful protester. They shot us with pepper balls. They dragged another protester into the facility.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

This was after Colbert was canceled. Which was two months ago.
Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

🚨 New CBO analysis below. Looking at the immigration provisions, my read is that they project a cost to taxpayers of $172.8 billion dollars.

That money is partially offset by $31.4 billion in new fees on legal immigration and tourism, plus $5.8 billion in new fees on other applications.
