People all over the country need to understand that federal agents are not in Chicago to prevent violence – they're in Chicago to cause violence.
(from the inbox) Less than an hour later this morning, just before 10:30 at Roscoe and Harding, feds again released gas as they were driving away, unobstructed, from a relatively small number of neighbors.

On Sunday, Albany Park residents came out of their homes to link arms and shout down ICE agents attempting to abduct one of their neighbors. They were successful, even though in response, agents ran over one woman's foot and deployed tear gas.

Federal Agents Deploy Tear Gas In Albany Park as Neighbors Block Immigration Arrest
It is the latest use of chemical irritants deployed by agents in neighborhoods. The incident was also the latest example of increased neighbor resistance to immigration enforcement in Chicago.

From the white supremacist book the official DHS account is referencing: "The point is to reveal organized Jewry as a world power entrenched in every country of the White man’s world, operating freely across every nation’s frontiers, and engaged in a ruthless war for the destruction of them all."
DHS is recruiting using a not-so-subtle reference to a 1978 book from white nationalist William Gayley Simpson, Which Way Western Man?

Simpson's book was released under an imprint associated with the National Alliance, founded by Turner Diaries author William Luther Pierce.

I reported on famine in South Sudan in 2017, traveling to rebel-held territory in Unity state where tens of thousands of people were judged to be in "IPC5", which is to say, totally without food and on the verge of death.

In Gaza 244,000 people are now in that stage
All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

The bill cuts healthcare and food assistance to give the wealthy trillions in tax breaks. It adds $3.4 trillion to the debt.

As Trump tries to dismantle the Department of Education, remember that his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15% would give the 100 largest corporations a tax cut larger than the entire department's K-12 budget.

I really liked the show too, including his character and those relationships. Also, the “feels like a miracle” description of his connection with his wife (and friend).
Just finished “A Man on the Inside.” Ted Danson is terrific, and the scenes with his daughter's family are searingly accurate portrayals of raising teens.
