Hi, BlueSky! Zoom in to find me. I’m an education professor. I help people grapple with race/opportunity/diversity issues in K12 schools. I’ve been researching/critiquing efforts to restrict race- and diversity-related work in K12. Let's improve public schools to support every young person instead.
Super important quick read.

From incredible members of the MN Law School Faculty. May we all find the words to speak out -- especially when the our institutions fail to do so.

I know there's a lot of passion to help fix what is ailing America. Here's one thought. You live in a school district. See if your district is holding an election for school board this year. If so, find out if there is a pro-public education candidate. If so, do something to support--put up a

We need to document how cancellations over so called “DEI” are removing basic K12 supports and opportunities from kids—here, staff serving rural public schools. #opportunitytalk

Hi! In 2026, if helpful, I’m available for public talks that can support local K12 dialogue under duress. I’d love to directly support K12 educators to persist in supporting youth, and parents/students to back up K12. Could share Schooltalk and Everyday Antiracism in PD sensitive to today’s context.

In real time, ideologically driven cancellations of federal grants are removing opportunities to explore careers, get glasses and health services, prepare and apply for college, and more.

Words are part of supporting children.
Banning words restricts supports.

"Banning the word 'disability' from Head Start” …. "No administration can claim to support children with disabilities while banning the very word that protects them."
Head Start is a 60-year-old US Department of Health and Human Services program that, among other things, creates inclusive and accessible classrooms for children with disabilities. But those applying for funding were told by the Trump regime to avoid the words "inclusion" and "disability." 🤡
Head Start centers told to avoid 'disability,' 'women' and more in funding requests
New court documents reveal a list of nearly 200 words or phrases the Trump administration told Head Start programs it does not want to see in their funding requests.

“It's time to protect ourselves by demanding that legislators pass sensible gun control and value children over guns.”

It’s loooong past time. My daughter and I wrote this in 2018 when she was in middle school. She’s now a college student. Furious at politicians and heartbroken for Brown students.

A huge district court victory for the University of California.

District courts find facts. This one found "overwhelming evidence" that the Trump administration has pervasively violated the First Amendment in its efforts to coerce and intimidate the University of California.

‘Unlawful coercion’: Trump can’t withhold funds or demand payment from UC, federal judge rules.

The judge has previously sided with UC scholars several times since June in halting Trump’s termination of science and health research funding. The latest ruling is arguably the most sweeping yet.
