This is my semi-regular reminder that if you're looking for something to do to push against authoritarianism, you might have to look no farther than your very own school district. Extremists want to take it over and cause havoc. Don't let them! See if there's a sensible pro-public education

What kind of country do we want to be? This isn't my idea of a good country.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor was right about Alabama’s death-by-prolonged-suffocation execution method.

What struck me about Reagan's talk was how he was trying to convince people of his point of view. What a refreshing thing for a president to do. We've heard so much bluster and "trust me, I'm smart" from this president.
I love source documentation! Thanks @sifill.bsky.social for sharing. 👇👇👇
So they didn’t like the ad. Let’s just post Reagan’s 5 min speech against tariffs as it appears on YouTube.

Violating schools, churches, and hospitals is a way to say that there is no safe space. Teachers, clergy, doctors, and nurses can't help you. There is no one to trust, no place to go.

Many districts are holding school board elections this November, particularly in Virginia and New Jersey. Don't be someone who gets to that on the ballot and say--ack, I forgot to find out who to vote for! Ask a trusted friend or neighbor. Or do your own research. drive.google.com/file/d/1aaKG...

Following #NoKings, are you wondering what you can do? Look and see if there is a school board election in your district, and see if there is a pro-public education candidate running against an extremist and get involved. Put a sign in your window or yard; host a meet-and-greet; text your friends.

Oh it’s not appropriate for your program to air the president wearing a crown and shitting on American citizens?
You’ll talk about it in euphemisms? Maybe call it the “crown video” and ignore the shitting part? Because that’s appropriate?
Tell me, was it appropriate for the president to do it?

Right now school board candidates around the country are gearing up for a November election. Look around. If you are in a school district with a pro-public education candidate, sign up to help--make some phone calls, hold a meet-and-greet in your driveway, put a sign in your yard, give a few bucks.
