Nationalizing elections is unconstitutional. But it's also a terrible idea because in our world of a unitary executive doing so would put Trump in charge of the elections, he believes he has immunity in all things, & that means he could (& rest assured he would) cheat without negative consequences.

As a journalist who has spent decades sitting in churches, many of them *very* rightwing, because understanding their beliefs, & how they’re expressed, matters, I’d like to see some journalists on the ground bring us that news. Just attend. Tell us about the songs, the sermon, the socializing.
I think it’s worth keeping in mind that the specific church that was protested, inspiring these outrageous constitutional violations by DOJ, is part of the network of Christian Nationalist churches tied to Doug Wilson and attended by Pete Hegseth.
The fact that *both* of the churches that have made news in Minneapolis for pro-ICE links/positions have ties to the Doug Wilson-verse (which, for those keeping track, is who oversees the church Sec. Pete Hegseth now attends) feels like evidence that the universe's writers are just getting lazy.

Did Bovino have a speck of decency to apologize, at least just for what he said about Pretti? No.

Did JD Vance? No.

Did Stephen Miller? No.

Did Kristi Noem? No.

They simply lack basic human decency and have no business being in senior positions of the US government.

Stephen Miller and his sadistic cult
there are other ideologies and regimes u can compare them to but the closest thing I can accurately use to analogize the trump-vance era GOP’s policies and ideology is an abusive alcoholic mentally ill husband. Thats it. You beg them to stop, and they’ll use that as an excuse for more beatings

As I wrote in my @theverge.com piece on gov't weaponization of content moderation to remove avenues to capture/archive footage of ICE, some DHS/DOJ actions can best be understood through the lens of narrative war, where non-approved footage isn't just irksome but a competitor in narrative-building
