Intersectional feminist in progress
Mental illness also in progress
“Pure evil” according to one X user
Scout puts into words so eloquently how I’ve felt about CMHT and wider MH services. The line “if they need you to not be sick, then you are not sick” is so powerful

Has anyone used an advocate to try to make progress in the NHS mental health system? I’d be so grateful to hear about any positive or negative experiences 🩷

All I did this year was survive (at times against my will). This new year I won’t be celebrating another year starting/ending but I’ll certainly be thinking of anyone else that has just survived. I see you and I’m thinking of you 💜

10 years of equal marriage🎉🏳️‍🌈

I reminded Parliament yesterday that this hasn't meant total equality, love & freedom for all in Scotland.

Where we should have solidarity, we have hate. Let's keep fighting for everyone's right to love & be loved as their authentic self.

Self-determination is a core principle of feminism - TERFs seem to have forgotten that
So why have so-called ‘trans-exclusionary radical feminists’ moved to remove this concept from feminism altogether?

Me: can I get some help for my mental health please ☺️
NHS: oops no therapy, only TIPP skill to get through this bit
Me: ok thanks, I’ve tried it but I think I need talking therapy
NHS: DISTRACTION TECHNIQUES!!!!!! To get through this bit
Me: ok all I now do is distract myself from my thoughts and

Cis allies, don’t be hip, be helpful. Speak out, speak up, spread the word. Put yourself in an uncomfortable place: in the pub, at Pilates, round Cousin John’s. Risk ridicule and hate. Wherever you go, it will never be as uncomfortable as the place your trans friends and family are forced to occupy.

They kill you. Is that mild?
Suggesting anxiety and depression are ALWAYS mild mental health problems and ALWAYS curable is extremely problematic. Recovery rates are c.50% only, less so if structurally disadvantaged. Disability can make functioning near impossible. The presumption of mild is problematic @bbcnews.

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

Fuck HBO
“J.K. Rowling has a right to express her personal views. We will remain focused on the development of the new series, which will only benefit from her involvement."

She does. But those views are harming trans people, and JK Rowling should face consequences for that.

HBO Says ‘Harry Potter’ Series Will ‘Benefit’ From J.K. Rowling’s Involvement: She ‘Has the Right to Express Her Personal Views’
HBO supports J.K. Rowling's involvement with the new "Harry Potter" show as the core fanbase grapples with Rowling’s controversial views on trans identity.

I’m at the point of asking am I disillusioned as to what the NHS MH system should be doing? Am I asking for too much? Is care for my mental health something completely unreasonable?

Again I apologise for complaining a lot but I just need to shout about it somehow!

It feels like it always comes back to being our fault as patients. If you’re not fixed in a few sessions of CBT then (it feels like) you’re labelled as complex, problematic or difficult. It completely ignores societal factors that are causing bad mental health/illness.
Apologies, angry rant over!
2 million people are stuck on mental health waiting lists. GPs are overwhelmed. After years of underfunding and undervaluing, Labour’s response is creeping ever closer to blaming patients for not ‘looking after themselves.’ This is peak neoliberalism—dangerous for both mental and physical health.

Y’know stuff like
‘we all have mental health’ 👀

Anyone in Scotland had their Covid booster due to mental illness? I’ve had it before but hadn’t heard anything this year. Now got an appt but have been told they will decide on the day if I’m eligible. I won’t be upset if I’m not able to but interested if others have had theirs!

Mental health professionals should never underestimate the power their notes hold.

They have the ability to re-write our experiences without our consent, impose a narrative upon us, twist our words to fit an agenda.

But it doesn't have to be like this. Please, do better.

And when you’re not cured in 10 sessions, they say “well we’ve tried everything”
Got depression? Try CBT
Got anorexia? Try CBT
Got schizophrenia? Try CBT
Got crippling anxiety? Try CBT

That seems to be the NHS' answer for basically anything mental health

£26 million allocated in the budget for Mental Health Crisis Centres.

£64 million in funding for the Department for Work and Pensions’ “Get People Working” programme.

Because, to this government, getting us working is worth more—literally—than keeping us alive.

Being mentally ill means having to become my own psychiatrist, psychologist, care coordinator and advocate. It’s exhausting enough being ill, but feeling like I’m doing a full time job to try to get the NHS to do anything feels so unjust. I’m aware what I’m going isn’t even the worst case scenario
