Some important findings in this paper:
1) Working with AI boosts the performance of people solving math, science & ethics questions
2) The biggest boost is for the hardest problems
3) High performers remain highest performing, but low performers gain more
4) People who are good with AI gain most

I'm probably going to echo this at least 150k times between now, the 2025 elections in 49 days & the 2026 midterms.

But THERE ARE LITERALLY ELECTIONS HAPPENING NEARLY EVERY WEEK IN AMERICA! Dems LITERALLY just flipped a seat in the IA Senate A WEEK AGO!!

Takes like this are just so unhelpful...

ive got no idea what's going on with Trump's health. But the 'biden precedent' is just so glaring and hilarious. half of 2025 has been taken up with elite press shaming of how no one ever talked abt Biden's age which was actually their main topic in 2024. Ok. Set aside that his party literally ...

Not all AI is the same.

-LLM: It knows.
-RAG: It knows and looks things up.
-Agent: It knows, looks things up, and acts

The real shift is from answering questions to achieving goals.

Vision-Language-Action models are the foundation of a new wave of generalist robots: networks that take in images from robot cameras (vision) and instructions (language) and produce robot trajectories. We are seeing a remarkable convergence in how these work; more: open.substack.com/pub/itcanthi...

We have a lot of fun tripping up AI with this, but asking it to parse a word by individual letters is kind of a nonsensical question given how tokenizers operate. It's like asking a Chinese speaker how many G's are in 中国, that's not how they process language.

One thing that really does help me sleep at night is, I remind myself that this first year is almost certainly going to be the worst of it. Something to consider:

- We have Nov's elections
- We roll right into midterm primary season
- After midterms, it will already be time to start talking 2028

A while ago I came up with the Stancil rule that you could have any normal opinion of Stancil and thats fine but if you're dedicated to hating him that signifies far worse about you and I should treat "vocally hates Stancil" as "block immediately". I honestly didn't expect it to apply to LLMs too.
hey guys if you’re a leftist and you spend all your time being utterly weird about me, specifically, maybe reflect on the fact that when Elon made his AI evil, in addition to becoming racist and antisemitic, it also immediately got utterly weird about me, specifically
