That's why it has to be stopped as immediately as it starts.

Wow. A message from Trump's nominee for top State Dept. job—who's already facing fierce opposition because of *other* fucked up statements—to a childhood friend:
An excerpt from one of my partner’s DM conversations with Trump’s nominee, Jeremy Carl. Jeremy said this in sincerity to his white queer friend: that we should enjoy being discriminated against as queer folk because worse is coming when we are discriminated against as white people. 🤯 Just so wrong.

This also came up in very similar language in the now-famous “this job sucks, please find me in contempt so I can sleep” hearing. The judge was kind of like, “When you say it’s a lot of work to follow due process, you realize I kind of don’t care, yes?”

But said it nicer.
“The Constitution does not permit the government to arrest thousands of individuals and then disregard their constitutional rights because it would be too challenging to honor those rights.”
BREAKING: Judge Nancy Brasel, a Trump appointee, has issued a TRO in the Minnesota access-to-counsel case about treatment at Whipple.

"It appears that in planning for Operation Metro Surge, the government failed to plan for the constitutional rights of its civil detainees."

This is actually an ESSENTIAL articulation of this admin’s immigration policy.

Policymaking is about weighing equities. In normal policymaking, the rights of the people you’re going after count as an equity. It appears for all the world that this administration’s decisionmaking simply ignores them.

This would be a remarkable shift in a case that started w/ the gov’t trying to prosecute the woman he shot ⬇️

They are in fact concentration camps in the original usage of camps for concentrating a civilian population for control or collective punishment or to facilitate deportation or population transfer.

They are not concentration camps as a euphemism for extermination camps.
God the gall of @jaketapper.bsky.social lecturing that Minneapolis small business owner about the meaning of the word "concentration camp" while people are being crammed into poorly resourced buildings by the thousands and shuttled off never to be heard from again

Someone was abducted at 10 AM by ICE on Central Ave. Their coworker says they’ve lived here for over 20 years, are documented, and have 3 kids who were born here.

Don’t be fooled by headlines when they’ve been lying to us the whole time. We still need you out patrolling until every agent is gone.

The publication was clearly not well received by #Palantir. Their blog discredited our work, my colleagues were personally attacked on LinkedIn. On 29 Dec, we received a demand for a list of changes to the report. We rejected this. This was followed by a second demand, which we also rejected.

🔎 The most explosive piece of our research was an internal army report. The evaluation concluded that the Swiss army should refrain from using Palantir products. Not suitable, plus reputational risk. Most important: the army feared that sensitive Swiss data could be passed on to US authorities.
