An interesting thing here, given the news, is that the secretary of education is the defendant in a suit accusing her of turning a blind eye to the operations of a child molestation ring that, there is no dispute, operated within her business from the 1970s to the 1990s
This is a direct attack on our children & our future.

At a time when we need to be doing more to prepare our kids to compete in the global economy, Trump is going after the agency that strengthens American education. Once again, he's helping our adversaries & competitors.
Trump administration to announce dismantling of much of Education Dept.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March seeking to close the department, but only Congress has the power to do that.

Even a fancy new train couldn't save me from being late to work.

Three months ago, tons of travel people posted about the excitement of riding a new train, it was a party, there were balloons, they wrote reviews, etc. Tomorrow I will finally do the same... on my regular commute to work, perhaps the most ordinary thing anyone does in their workday.

Predictions of a frost last week were premature with the result that it is November 16th and I just went out in gale force winds to harvest tomatoes and peppers.

From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

I would like the 13k a year my parents paid back, please.

What, they charge more now than they did 100 years ago when I was a student?
Johns Hopkins University will no longer charge tuition to undergraduate students from families making under $200,000 a year, the school announced Thursday.

The university will also cover the room and board and other living expenses for students whose families make under $100,000. buff.ly/MRJcyFm

Yes there's a lot of denial, but I've seen it: when it snaps, it snaps hard.

"Powerful men covered up child sex abuse" isn't outlandish when you've seen that happen in church, boy scouts, school athletics, and every other social pillar of your conservative middle-class life in the past few decades.
