1. The Trump administration has just quietly updated the State Department website to indicate that it may invalidate transgender people's passports.

This comes a week after a SCOTUS ruling blocking lower rulings allowing trans people to update them.

Trump Admin Quietly Changes State Department Page To Indicate It May Invalidate Trans Passports
The change comes after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the administration and lifted a temporary injunction.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I think the moment in THE GIVER when Jonas notices the apple change in a way he can’t yet describe or understand legitimately changed the wiring of my 11yo brain.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Architectural critic Herbert Muschamp once wrote, “Seattle’s new Central Library is a blazing chandelier to swing your dreams upon,“ which imo is an apt description of the magic of libraries in general. I’ll never forget the awe I felt exploring this building & its many treasures for the first time.

While they’re still screwing about with SNAP, it’s a good idea to donate to pet shelters, too.

If you dare show up with “poor people shouldn’t have pets”, I will tear such a new one it generates a black hole.

Families on SNAP worry about not just feeding themselves but also their pets
With SNAP benefits going out late, nonprofits are begging for pet food donations to prevent desperate owners from surrendering their dogs and cats to animal shelters.

What if agents of the state and our government *fed* kids and didn’t fucking indiscriminately spray them with dangerous poison. How cool would that would be.

I'm very grateful to @jasonkoebler.bsky.social for letting me speak on the relationship between AI and book bans.

This is a great and thorough article, and I'm glad I got a chance to say a thing I say a lot but that-- without the context Jason provides-- makes me sound a little conspiracy minded.

This is an absolutely tragic gutting of one of the best politics desks in the country
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Even during the hardest times, humans continue to create wondrous things. I can’t see this stopping, no matter the obstacles. I don’t believe art will ever “peak.”

On the other hand, Muppet Bohemian Rhapsody. 🙏

it gets tiring to keep explaining what it means to be poor to people.

it is not that poor people don’t know that cooking is cheaper:

cooking costs time. it costs pots and pans. it costs a working stove and your utilities on. it costs you’ve been on your feet all day and your babies are tired.

I tried TikTok for awhile, but the only stuff that gained traction was about Paul McCartney. I went semi-viral for a video about his thirst trap pics. It has since been reposted to other apps (not by me!) several times over the span of years. My legacy is shirtless Paul McCartney. (Cautionary tale)

I actually just saw a really great interview with Issa Rae where she said that a little bit of imposter syndrome is healthy because it’s a sign of humility & a reminder to keep learning.

I really liked that framing of imposter syndrome as a sign of a healthy ego & a reminder to keep an open mind!
Guys what do you do when you suffer from imposter syndrome real bad? Like brain being really mean telling you nothing you ever did is good enough and people are just laughing at how bad you are?

Please no compliments or anything, really just looking for inspirational memes or such that helped you.
