fwiw (which is not much) my perspective as an observer from the other side of the country who is taking notes, trying to prepare for my community’s turn in the crosshairs is: we should be looking for outlets for people’s heroic impulses.
Seeing all the “professional” activists go after Stancil is negatively polarizing me into a stance that Minnesota is winning because it’s normal people rising to the occasion and pushing a lot of activist nonsense out of the way by doing it

You are allowed to peacefully protest against the government. The government cannot really impose any serious burden on you for being one of hundreds of thousands of people peacefully protesting against it. But you can impose a serious burden on yourself, and fellow protesters, by worrying too much.

We really, really need to squash this idea that the first step in effective protest is ensuring that nobody can ever identify who you are or distinguish you in any way

Happy abseiling lesbians day to all who celebrate!!!
#OtD 2 Feb 1988 4 lesbians abseiled into the UK House of Lords in protest at the homophobic section 28. In 2017, 4 other lesbians climbed onto the Houses of Parliament in order to put up a blue plaque commemorating the 1988 action stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9181...

despite the papist overtones, i'm deeply considering requesting that my future funeral provide in memoriam prayer cards. i realize this is probably partially the ADHD of it all, but i really like having those little funereal pokemon cards. they help my memory a TON.

I got out of bed with BIG PLANS for breakfast, then drew back the curtains and realized how much snow i was going to have to shovel, and just ate three pffernuse cookies, four string cheese, and drank a monster.

There isn’t any indication that immigration activity has changed in Minneapolis. In fact, this afternoon, federal immigration agents began staging at Holy Rosary Catholic Church located in East Phillips. This activity is disgraceful and creates an unsafe environment for our neighbors. 1/

I liked it better when songs about Minneapolis were about finding queer love in the northeast minneapolis arts district (and making it scan!)
I like it better when songs about Minneapolis were about not moving here even though the cutest boy you even saw asked you to.
I liked it better when songs about Minneapolis were either "I'm a sex freak (complimentary) and so can you" or about doing molly with your bad cool girlfriend

The thing is, Minnesota holds a GRUDGE. the wild's alt uniform still has multiple north stars references.

Bike friends: This is something you can organize wherever you are, in solidarity with us in Minneapolis.

Plan a unity ride for this Saturday. Bring your community together.
On Saturday we ride for Alex Pretti
1:00pm at Washburn Fair Oaks Park

From Angry Catfish:
“We're asking folks to host rides and come together. Bike shops and non-profits, cycling orgs and alt cycling collectives, city and rural. We are many but we stand together as one.”

I want you to stop and think about what kind of country we're living in when a major metropolitan paper is publishing this story. Is that the kind of country you want to live in? I sure hope not.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

This should make it painfully obvious that this all just a white supremacist terror campaign
Six. Six Indigenous people have been kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis in less than 3 weeks. And that's just the ones we know about. Three of them have not been released.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.
