1/Do you know who Laurie Pritchett is? I bet you don’t. He was the Sheriff in Albany, Georgia, who decided that the best response to non-violent protesters was to arrest them and just put them in jail. No violence, no torture, just arrest. It was the worst defeat of the Civil Rights Movement.
the smartest thing to do right now would be to make a show of disciplining some ICE agents and quietly pull back from minneapolis. the president offers his condolences and maybe even makes a direct donation to the family. you fire bovino and replace him with someone more quietly depraved, etc.

This right here is one of my great pet peeves: THERE WERE NOT ONLY ONE GROUP OF FOUNDERS. The Reconstruction Founders led a massive, important constitutional change, and we don’t need to look at English common law to understand what equality, citizenship, and freedom meant. WE WERE OUR OWN NATION.
So the fact that Wurman is digging around in English history is a tell. What about the founders' intent (and ratifying generation's) and historical context leading to the passage of the Reconstruction Amendments? Anyone? THERE WERE NOT ONLY ONE GROUP OF FOUNDERS. Why go all the way back? 🤔

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.
